Prom is one of the biggest events in a teenager’s life, which is why at Spray Tan Leicester I focus not only on creating a beautiful glow, but also on making the appointment feel calm, safe, comfortable, and professional.

My goal is to help prom clients feel confident, natural, and comfortable in their skin for their special evening.

Trial Tan Is Highly Recommended

I strongly recommend booking a trial spray tan before prom. A trial appointment allows us to:

• choose the correct shade
• see how the skin develops and fades
• avoid last-minute stress
• identify any preparation mistakes before the actual event

Parents Are Welcome During The Appointment

I understand that prom spray tans can sometimes feel stressful or nerve-racking for teenagers and parents.

For this reason, parents are welcome to stay in the tanning room during the appointment if this helps everyone feel calmer, safer, and more comfortable. Creating a professional and respectful environment is always my priority.

Clothing During The Spray Tan Appointment

Teenage clients may choose to:

• remain topless during the appointment or using nipple cover
• wear their own thong underwear
• wear disposable thong underwear provided for tanning

The choice is always based on the client’s comfort level.

Important Summer Skin Advice

Prom season takes place during summer, and this is one of the biggest reasons why proper skin preparation is extremely important.

Please remember:

Sun-damaged skin and spray tanning do not work well together.

​

Many people think sun damage only means red or visibly burnt skin, but this is not true.

Skin can remain in a healing process for up to 4–6 weeks after sun exposure, even when there is no visible redness.

During this healing process, the skin may experience:

• peeling
• micro-peeling not visible to the eye
• dryness
• uneven shedding

When spray tan is applied onto healing skin, the result may develop:

• patchy
• uneven
• faded in certain areas much faster

If skin is currently healing after sun exposure, please cancell your appointment at least 24 hours before to avoid late cancellation fees.

Spray Tan Will NOT Cover Existing Tan Lines

Spray tan is not paint. This means existing tan lines created by the sun will not fully disappear underneath a spray tan.

Skin that is already naturally tanned from the sun usually absorbs tan differently compared to paler skin.

As a result, natural tan lines may still remain visible after the spray tan develops/ naturally tanned arms may be darker than legs...

 

To help visually soften and blend these differences, I often recommend:

Vita Liberata Body Blur This is a water-resistant body makeup designed to blur uneven skin tone and tan lines for special events and photographs. Unlike spray tan, it can be washed off with shower gel or soap after the event.

Professional Spray Tan Environment

At Spray Tan Leicester, I do not spray tan inside a small pop-up tent. I use a professional spray tanning extraction system with an additional extraction fan to help reduce overspray and improve air quality during the appointment.

This is especially important during prom season because appointments often take place during:

• hot weather
• humid conditions
• busy schedules
• stressful days

Many teenagers also accidentally arrive without eating or drinking properly beforehand.

Heat, stress, humidity, and low blood sugar can increase the risk of dizziness or fainting during a spray tan appointment.

Please make sure your teenager:

• eats properly before the appointment
• drinks enough water
• avoids arriving dehydrated

This is extremely important for safety and comfort.

Skin Preparation Is Essential

For the best possible result, the skin should arrive completely free from:

• deodorant
• perfume
• lotions
• oils
• sweat

When the skin or clothing is not properly prepared, Spray Tan Leicester cannot guarantee a satisfactory spray tan result because the development process may become uneven or patchy.
