Wedding Spray Tan

Your wedding deserves a tan that looks flawless in every photo, lasts through celebration, and gives you confidence from the aisle to the dance floor. A professionally applied bridal spray tan is safe for your dress, skin-friendly, and customised to your tone, the season, and your beauty schedule.

Bridal Spray Tan Trial:

Why It Matters More Than You Think

Just like a makeup trial and hair trial, your spray tan trial is essential. Your skin is unique and it changes its behaviour depending on the season, humidity, temperature, hormones, lifestyle, and even your sleep or stress in the weeks leading up to your wedding. A single tanning appointment can look different in winter compared to summer, which is why a trial tan must always be done close enough to your wedding date to give reliable insight.

Best Time for a Wedding Tan Trial

Schedule your trial between 5 and 2 weeks before the wedding.

A trial tan cannot be done less than 14 days before your wedding appointment. This is because trial tan must be fully removed before your wedding spray tan session, giving your artist a fresh, clean canvas to apply your final bridal tan. Tanning too close to your appointment reduces your ability to properly reset and prep the skin.

Purchasing a trial 6 months ahead won’t give you accurate results. Skin reacts differently in different seasons. Humidity levels, air temperature, evolving skincare routines, and natural body changes can all influence how tan develops and fades. A trial closer to your wedding gives a true reflection of your bridal tan result.

Why You Should Book a Trial Tan

You may book 2 trial tans spaced 2 weeks apart to test a lighter shade and a darker shade. This helps you compare finishes and decide in which tan you feel most comfortable, enhanced, and radiant.

Areas such as chest, legs or arms may absorb tan differently depending on your natural skin chemistry. After trial, you can clearly see if any area develops lighter, fades faster, or fades patchier. If that happens, you’ll know these spots need extra care during your wedding tan prep or heavier coat of tan.

After your trial tan, you will:

✔See how the colour develops over the following days

✔Understand how long it lasts

✔Observe how it fades

✔See how you look in photos next to your partner in different lighting

✔Check if any bronzer residue transfers to light or white clothing

✔Know what to adjust before the final bridal tan

✔Your trial will teach you exactly how to prep your skin before your bridal spray tan. If your tan fades patchy or uneven, you will know exfoliation needs more attention or moisturising routine needs improvement. It will also help you plan all other beauty appointments around your tan correctly.

✔Check if your breast tape leave a glue layer

Skipping your trial spray tan removes one of the most valuable parts of bridal beauty planning. Hormone shifts, menstrual cycles and moisturiser barriers are things neither you or me can fully control or predict, so a trial ensures your wedding tan expectations are clear and realistic.

Before Care for Bridal Spray Tan

Exfoliation is the key to a smooth, even, glowing bridal tan that lasts 7+ days.

1 Week Before Your Tan

✔Avoid any self-tanning products.

✔Moisturise your skin daily to maximise tan results and glow smoothness. Hydrated skin always tans better.

Choose moisturisers containing seed-based oils (jojoba, almond, argan).

✔Avoid products with mineral oil, petroleum jelly, or paraffinum liquidum as these create layer on skin and do not penetrate skin to boost hydration.

Day before your tan

✔Complete any other beauty treatments, especially facials, massage, nail, brow or eye-area services. Some lash or brow glue and tint formulas are not compatible with same-day spray tanning, so please confirm with your technician beforehand.

Shaving & Waxing:

✔Shave at least 24 hours before your appointment.

✔Wax at least 48 hours before your appointment.

✔Do not shave right before your spray tan session. Skin irritation and disrupted pH levels can interfere with tan clarity and absorption.

Exfoliation:

✔Take a warm bath for 20 to 30 minutes.

✔Shave during or after the bath.

✔Use an exfoliating glove or mitt in circular motions to gently buff off dead skin. (Exfoliating glove is usually next to sponges in supermarket and cost £1-£5)

✔Avoid oil-based body scrubs and shower gels. Many products contain silicone or oils that form a barrier and reduce tan absorption, even after rinsing.

✔Exfoliate from feet to head, focusing especially on the upper body including chest, back, sides and anywhere your dress fits tightly. ✔Incorrect exfoliation may result in your dress rubbing the skin and causing patches or visible bronzer transfer.

✔Check your exfoliation: after this long bath, rub skin with your towel. If any dead skin rolls off, exfoliate again. Proper exfoliation prevents patchy fading and helps tan last longer.

On the Day of Your Appointment

✔Shower at least 4 hours before your session. Do not take shower right before appoitment because this affect on yout pH level.

✔Arrive with clean, dry, product-free skin. No perfume, deodorant, lotions, sweat, oils or layered makeup on the body.

✔Wear loose comfortable clothes like baggy T-shirts and joggers or pyjamas. Avoid leggings, jeans or strappy tops, as tight clothing may cause streaks from body friction or seatbelts during tan processing.

✔Never tan over peeling sunburn, as this interferes with even absorption and fading. If you have sun damage skin please CANCEL AN APPOITMENT. SPRAY TAN AND SUN DAMAGED SKIN DONT MIX. Your skin need 4-6 weeks to fully heal after sunburn.

Aftercare for Bridal Tan

The bronzer you see during processing is only guide colour not your final result.

Your First Rinse

✔Use lukewarm water only no soap.

✔Remove bronzer gently using your hands, starting from toes and working upwards to avoid streaking.

✔Rinse until the water runs clear. This takes up to 2 minutes.

✔Pat dry gently, do not rub.

✔Do not apply soaps, lotions or liquid products to the skin right after your first rinse.

24 Hours After Application

✔Take your second quick shower the next day using shower gel to remove any final bronzer residue before wearing white.

✔Moisturise only after 24 hours with spray tan-safe body butter or lotion.

Many high-street lotions contain mineral oils which can break down the tan faster. Professional bridal-safe moisturisers are available to purchase at your appointment.

Wedding Tan Dress Safety

Will the Tan Transfer to My Dress?

This is the most common bridal question. If you follow proper before care and aftercare rules, your tan will not transfer onto your wedding dress. Your dress is more likely to pick up marks from walking, sitting, dancing, or celebrating than from a professionally applied spray tan.

Honeymoon Spray Tan Care

Keep the glow alive beyond the wedding day with gradual tan lotion or tanning spritz water available to buy at your appointment. Lightweight formulas work best for maintaining an even result while travelling or celebrating outdoors.

Important Reminder

Longer Doesn’t Mean Darker: Leaving your tan on longer than the recommended time may lead to uneven, patchy or orange-toned results. The bronzer sitting on your skin is only a guide, not your developed tan. Rinsing at the correct time protects your colour, keeps your skin balanced, and helps your tan last longer.

A spray tan continues to develop for up to 24 hours and reaches its best after 2 days. This is why patience is key. Do not judge your colour in the first 24 hours, no matter the formula used, whether it is rapid rinse or an overnight tan. Every professional spray tan needs time to fully develop on the skin.

Why 2–3 Days Before Your Wedding is the Perfect Timing

Booking your bridal spray tan 2–3 days before the wedding allows your skin the ideal conditions for your colour to appear at its best. It gives you enough time for 1–2 showers using shower gel before wearing white, ensures the colour settles evenly. This window also gives us time to gently adjust or fix any areas if needed, so your final tan is perfect for your big moment.

Pay attention to how your tan develops and fades during your trial and final bridal tan. If you notice anything that concerns you, please message or discuss it at your final appointment. Observing your colour early helps us manage problems and make any necessary refinements within safe timing. Your concerns matter, and the earlier we address them, the better the final result will be.
